  • How I Became a Narrator

    Published: at

My journey as a voice actor and narrator began unexpectedly while working at a local retail sporting goods store, where I amused my coworkers by dramatically reading newsletters. Encouraged to start a YouTube channel, I delved into narrating fictional horror stories, thrillers, and romances. This led to creating my own channel, "Stories After Midnight," which provided enough audio content to land a role as a quarterback in a little-known video game. Over seven years, I honed my narration skills, garnering a modest following on YouTube and Spotify, and building confidence in my voice, which I've used for various podcasts and tutorials. I've also developed a niche app called Reddex to streamline the process of sourcing stories for narration. While contemplating the next steps, I reflect on how this unexpected path has enriched my life.
